Through the first 11 games of the season, the Philidelphia Eagles were unquestionably the best team in the league winning 10 games, and looking like the favorite to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

However, in the last 6 games of their campaign, the Eagles won a single game before ultimately getting blown out in the NFC wildcard matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

During the week leading up to the Super Bowl, former Utah and current Eagles Returner/Receiver Britain Covey was interviewed on Radio Row and shed some light on what went wrong for the team.

Covey said, "I definitely think we got emotionally tired from trying to figure out what the problem was and we kept trying to pinpoint it as this and pinpoint it as that." The former Ute continued, “There was some miscommunication I think from coaches to players, there was some pointing fingers from player to player and there was kind of letting outside voices impact our love for the game and just the happiness that we had ... all that combined to really just make us spiral."

He went on to say, "It wasn’t Brian Johnson, (but) I definitely think we needed some changes, and so we have a new coordinator (Kellen Moore) and I think it’s going to be good for us," and he echoed an optimistic tone for the outlook of next season saying "I just think you need change, you need fresh eyes, but we still got the pieces. We still got the pieces this year and we have (a lot of) draft picks. It’s crazy. So, we’re gonna do something. I definitely think we overcorrected in some areas last year and under-corrected in others."

Covey played in 16 games this season, accumulating 417 punt return yards on 49 attempts with a long of 54 yards while also getting more involved in the passing game. Solidifying himself as a premier returner in his sophomore season, the Utah man, along with the entire Eagles organization, will look to finally break through and reach the next level in 2024.
