The New York Jets were already without two potential starting offensive tackles and a key wide receiver during Wednesday's training camp practice in Florham Park.

Then, starting defensive end John Franklin-Myers was forced to exit the field with a trainer after sustaining a lower-body injury.

"He's just dealing with some groin tightness," said head coach Robert Saleh after Practice No. 6. "He suffered it during one-on-ones and then got through the first part of practice. Then, Zuff [David Zuffelato] pulled him, so I don't think it's bad. Might cost him a couple of days, but it's nothing serious."

The Jets will host an open practice on Thursday before back-to-back off-days. The staff could opt to keep the banged-up players, like Franklin-Myers, out until Sunday.

Left tackle Duane Brown, the incumbent starter, remains on the Active/PUP list as he works his way back from offseason shoulder surgery.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is looking forward to Brown's imminent return.

"Duane's not out there, which is gonna make a difference for us," said Rodgers. "Duane's a warrior. Obviously, you saw last year he didn't need a lot of practice. He definitely didn't need to be 100 percent to play, but I know he's ready to get back out there at some point."

Receiver Allen Lazard, who inked a four-year free-agent contract in March, missed a second straight day of action due to what head coach Robert Saleh described as "some muscle tightness" after Tuesday's practice.

Meanwhile, fourth-year offensive tackle Mekhi Becton, who was removed from team drills at one point on Tuesday due to a "pitch count," also spent Wednesday's session on the sidelines.

"Mekhi's knee just wasn't up for it today, so we just held him back," said Saleh. "It's going to be more day-to-day, but hopefully we can get him back out there tomorrow."

Becton, the No. 11 overall selection from the 2020 NFL Draft, has not appeared in a game since the 2021 season opener.

"We're trying to pace it, trying to get him back up to full speed where he can play an entire game," said Saleh.

Rodgers addressed Becton's absence, too.

"Then, Mekhi I think was out today. So, that's another guy we'd love to see working when he's healthy," said the four-time NFL MVP.
