Veteran DT Beau Allen retires from NFL

Veteran defensive tackle Beau Allen hasn't played in an NFL regular-season game since the 2019 campaign.

It's now known he's taken the field for the last time as an active participant.

As Josh Alper mentioned for Pro Football Talk, Allen took to Twitter on Friday to confirm that he's retiring from the NFL (announcement contains not-safe-for-work language).

Allen, 30, first entered the league when the Philadelphia Eagles took a flier on him in the seventh round of the 2014 draft. He was part of the Eagles team that defeated the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LII and spent four total seasons with Philadelphia.

Allen later completed a move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2018, where he played for two years before he signed with the Patriots in the spring of 2020. However, he landed on injured reserve and never featured for New England before he was released in March 2021. Allen didn't play last season.

Assuming he doesn't experience a change of heart, he'll end his pro career with 16 regular-season starts across 90 games, 117 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and 15 quarterback hits to go along with his Super Bowl ring.
