Veteran QB Carson Wentz feels 'new passion for the game' with Colts

Veteran quarterback Carson Wentz hopes to turn over a new leaf in 2021 after being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason.

The 28-year-old has spent the last few months getting acclimated to life with the Colts and recently told Beth Hoole of ValleyNewsLive.com that he believes moving to Indy has rejuvenated his career after a rough final season in Philadelphia.

"I really feel like I have a new passion for the game," Wentz said, according to Jonathan X. Simmons of the Indianapolis Star. "I've been high, I've been injured, I've been, now, benched, I've been traded, I've kinda seen a lot in five years, so whatever the game throws at me I'm ready."

Wentz said earlier this month that he believes the Colts have the pieces in place to have a successful 2021 season.

"There's something special brewing here," he said.

Colts head coach Frank Reich also believes the North Carolina native can bounce back this season, saying in May that he believes Wentz's hard work this summer will pay off.

Last season, Wentz threw for 2,620 yards and 16 touchdowns in 12 games. However, he also led the league with 15 interceptions and was sacked 50 times before being benched in favor of rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts.

If he's going to take anyone's advice entering the 2021 campaign, it should be his own. The veteran recently told San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance not to let the pressure get to him and "just go play."

Considering Wentz will probably be facing more pressure than Lance, he should take that message and run with it.
