Another veteran quarterback could find himself on the trade market in the days to come, according to one report.
The Minnesota Vikings are eager to reset their cap situation and could make quarterback Kirk Cousins available, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. Cousins is entering the final year of his contract with the Vikings, and carries a $45 million cap hit with him for 2022.
As it stands, the Vikings are roughly $18 million over the cap, so they will have to make moves at some point. Trying to offload Cousins’ deal would certainly be sensible, though new coach Kevin O’Connell has been adamant about wanting to work with the quarterback.
Cousins’ contract could be one complicating factor. Not only is he heading into the last year of his deal, but he does not appear willing to talk about a pay cut. Any interested team might have to deal with that stance as well.
