Vikings defensive line coach Chris Rumph has been hired by Clemson to coach their defensive ends, the program announced on Monday.

Rumph has been on a leave of absence since October, so this won't materially change things for the Vikings. His duties have been covered by assistant D-line coach Pat Hill, as well as assistant head coach Mike Pettine and defensive coordinator Brian Flores. (Pettine has primarily filled in for OLBs coach Mike Smith, who has been on an unrelated leave of absence since before the start of the regular season).

The Vikings hired Rumph in 2022 after he had spent one season apiece with the Bears and Texans. Prior to his foray into the NFL, he was an assistant coach at the college level from 2002-2019. That includes a five-year stint at Clemson from 2006-10 as their defensive ends coach. Now, 13 years later, he's returning and taking over the same role for the Tigers, who are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 season.

Kevin O'Connell and the Vikings will be in the market for a new defensive line coach this upcoming offseason.

Harry signed to PS

The Vikings have signed N'Keal Harry to the practice squad, they announced. He was waived last week to make room for Justin Jefferson on the 53-man roster. Harry has bounced between the active roster and PS this year, playing 23 offensive snaps and 49 special teams snaps across nine games.
