Minnesota Vikings rookie defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman was shot four times in Washington, D.C., according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Twyman's agent Drew Rosenhaus said his client was in the “wrong place, wrong time” while visiting his aunt in the nation’s capital.

The Minnesota Vikings have been made aware of the situation. Twyman was in a car when he was shot. He suffered superficial exit wounds. He will not need surgery, and X-rays were negative.

“In talking to him today, he’s going to be OK — that’s all that matters,” Rosenhaus said. “We’re thankful he’s OK. He will make a full recovery.”

Twyman starred at HD Woodson High School in Washington, D.C. before committing to the University of Pittsburgh. As a sophomore in college he switched his jersey number to 97 to honor Pitt great Aaron Donald. That season, Twyman recorded 10.5 sacks in 13 games.

The Vikings selected him in the sixth round. Expectations are for him to work his way up the depth chart behind his strong interior pass rushing skills.
