Von Miller glad Broncos traded for Teddy Bridgewater

Denver Broncos star pass-rusher Von Miller missed the entire 2020 NFL season because of a severe ankle injury he suffered during a September practice and is entering the final year of his contract at the age of 32. Denver shook up its roster ahead of this year's draft by trading for veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to compete with Drew Lock, who admittedly hasn't done enough in his two pro seasons to cement himself as a QB1 for any team.

According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Miller told reporters while attending Monday's organized team activities that he was a fan of that transaction.

"When we got Teddy I felt that was a great move," Miller explained. "Teddy’s ready to come in and play. Teddy’s ready to come in and compete. I think that’s what we needed in the quarterback position. We have a healthy QB competition that can only give us positive things."

Also on Monday, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said there's "not really" any way Lock or Bridgewater can take a noticeable lead in the quarterback battle ahead of upcoming training camp sessions and preseason games. Denver has also been linked in trade rumors with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has insisted he isn't trading the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player this offseason.
