Von Miller: 'It's time for every single field in the NFL to be grass'
The season-ending injury to New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard has created a pretty big discussion on the quality of playing surfaces in the NFL.
On Tuesday, former Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. took to Twitter asking why the league can not just do away with field turf and artificial fields entirely.
On Thursday, Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller echoed a similar sentiment while appearing on the Pat McAfee show, saying it is time for every single field in the NFL to be grass.
Part of Miller's argument is that if you look overseas to European soccer fields, they all play on natural grass, and on the occasion they come over to North America to play they make sure the turf fields are covered with natural grass for their games.

Along with the safety aspect, Miller also said the natural grass surfaces just feel better for players, both in terms of playing on it during the games and after the games. Only half of the league's stadiums (16 out of 32) play on natural grass surfaces. MetLife stadium, home of the New York Jets and Giants, was the stadium where Shepard suffered his non-contact injury on the final play of their Monday night loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
