The Kansas City Chiefs have just a few days of preparation time left before they take the field against the Miami Dolphins. Ahead of Saturday's Wild Card Weekend matchup against Mike McDaniel's squad, Andy Reid's team has some things to sort out on the injury front.

Per the team, only one player is slated to miss practice on Wednesday. That cuts Kansas City's total down from two the day prior.

Wanya Morris still in concussion protocol, Donovan Smith to work for second day in a row

The lone Chief who isn't expected to practice on Wednesday is left tackle Wanya Morris. The rookie suffered a concussion in Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Chargers, resulting in him missing practice to start the week. While it's mathematically possible for Morris to pass through concussion protocol by Saturday, it's unclear which step of the return-to-play process he's in. Symptom-limited activity, aerobic exercise, football-specific exercise, club-based non-contact training drills and full football activity must all be considered. Should Morris miss the Wild Card game, it will snap a six-game streak in which he's logged significant snaps on offense.

Help could be on the way for the Chiefs, however. After Reid said he expects veteran Donovan Smith to be available this weekend barring a setback, the 30-year-old was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice. He'll work in some capacity for the second straight day, keeping him on track to potentially return to the lineup on Saturday. Smith hasn't played since Week 13 due to a neck stinger.

Justyn Ross back to practice on Wednesday

At the wide receiver position, Justyn Ross is back at practice after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 18's win. Ross, like Morris, missed practice on Tuesday due to his respective ailment. At the time of his injury versus the Chargers, the second-year wideout had played 38 snaps and logged two receptions on four targets for 17 yards. He isn't out of the woods yet as far as availability is concerned, although returning to work after a one-day absence is always good news.

Elsewhere, Kadarius Toney will practice for the second day in a row as he continues to rehab hip and ankle injuries. He was a limited participant on Tuesday, but practicing on consecutive days is good news for the former first-round pick. The last time Toney played was in Week 15 against the New England Patriots.
