Washington Football Team releasing RT Morgan Moses

The Washington Football Team apparently didn't wait long to see if any team would trade for former starting right tackle Morgan Moses.

Sam Fortier of the Washington Post reports WFT is releasing Moses just two days after stories first surfaced the club had given the 30-year-old permission to seek a trade. According to John Keim of ESPN, Washington clears $7.75 million in salary-cap space via this transaction.

Washington selected Texas Longhorns tackle Samuel Cosmi in the second round of this year's draft and then signed one-time Pro Bowl left tackle Charles Leno Jr. earlier this month, moves that made Moses surplus to requirements.

Moses started every game for Washington over the past six seasons and, theoretically, shouldn't be a free agent for too long assuming he's anxious to link up with a different team. However, the veteran could also keep himself in shape and wait until some contender loses a body either during summer training-camp sessions or preseason games before putting pen to paper on an agreement.
