Washington K Joey Slye out at least three weeks with hamstring injury
The Washington Football Team defeated the Seattle Seahawks 17-15 on Monday night to improve to 5-6 on the season but will need to find its fourth kicker of the campaign because of what occurred during the game.
As John Keim noted for ESPN, Washington head coach Ron Rivera told 106.7 The Fan on Tuesday morning that placekicker Joey Slye is expected to miss at least the next three games because of the hamstring injury he picked up in the win over the Seahawks. Slye suffered the setback pursuing Seattle's Rasheem Green after an extra-point attempt was blocked late in the game's first half.
Assuming Washington places Slye on injured reserve, he'll have to miss a minimum of three contests and won't be eligible to return until the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 26, per NFL rules.
Slye replaced Chris Blewitt earlier this month after Blewitt failed to impress following Washington's release of Dustin Hopkins. In total, Slye converted six total field goal attempts and five of six extra points, including the try that was blocked Monday, before he went down with the hamstring issue.
Punter Tress Way can serve as an emergency kicker but left Washington without an ability to try a standard extra point or field goal in the second half of Monday's matchup.
