Joey Slye has been an instant upgrade at kicker for the Washington Football Team. Following Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers he may already be the best Washington social media user.
Slye trolled Cam Newton and the Panthers with an epic caption on Instagram.
Last week, Newton yelled “I’m baaaack” after scoring a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals in his first game back after signing with the Panthers.
Sunday, Slye was one of nine former Panthers players in uniform for Washington. It was considered “Reunion Week” for Washington primarily for head coach Ron Rivera’s return to the team he coached for nine seasons before being fired in 2019.
Much of the attention heading into the game was focused on Rivera and his former QB Newton, as well as Washington’s quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who also played for the Panthers.
But Slye had his moments in his return to Carolina. He made two field goals, including the go-ahead score and dagger field goal int he fourth quarter. He also made all three of his extra points.
