Washington players not violating protocol by being at team facilities
TMZ Sports has confirmed that Washington players who visited the Bon Secours Training Center on Wednesday were not in violation of any rules.
Washington running back Derrius Guice had his Instagram profile private to the public as of Wednesday afternoon, but TMZ obtained and posted a photo that featured Guice at the facility with the caption "Grind never stops."
A separate picture showed multiple individuals associated with the team at the facility.
While some fans may be disheartened to see any NFL players potentially infringing upon social-distancing protocol during the coronavirus pandemic, TMZ learned the franchise had not broken any rules:
"All players at the facility today were rehabbing injuries and fall under allowed exception to be in the building," a team spokesperson tells TMZ Sports.""We were not conducting organized workouts as part of our program."
TMZ added that players who got too close to each other at the facility were quickly told to separate and maintain safe distances.
As ESPN's Mike Triplett explained, fellow ESPN personality Dianna Russini reported earlier in the day that New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton had informed his players the team will have no offseason program, virtual or otherwise, due to the virus outbreak.
On April 13, ESPN's Dan Graziano noted the NFL and NFL Players Association had agreed upon a unique offseason program that will feature online "classroom instruction and virtual workouts for an indeterminate period."
While the 2020 NFL Draft will get underway as scheduled on Thursday evening, it will be a virtual event with general managers making selections from their homes.
Guice was in the headlines earlier this month when, as Michael Phillips of the Richmond Times-Dispatch wrote, the RB's former agent sued him for money Guice allegedly never repaid.
Fadde Mikhail, named in the lawsuit, is asking for $500,000 in damages.
