Sunday was a rough going for Antonio Gibson. The Washington Football Team running back was limited to 10 carries and 44 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gibson entered the game dealing with a stress fracture in his shin. It’s an injury that he’s dealt with for a couple of weeks. However, Sunday he aggravated the injury, leaving the contest early in the second quarter.

Gibson gingerly walked to the sidelines to the blue medical tent to be examined. After missing an offensive possession, he returned in the game. He broke a 15-yard run, the largest for Washington in the game.

However, on the very next play he fumbled the ball to the Chiefs.

Gibson continued to play until he exited the game for good in the third quarter. He was replaced by JD McKissic.

Following Washington’s 31-13 loss, head coach Ron Rivera said Gibson was struggling with his shin injury late in the game.

“We’ll see how he is. We did take him out of the game because he was struggling with it,” Rivera said per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. “We’ll see how he is tomorrow morning.”

Washington fell to a 2-4 record following loss. They’re currently on a tough stretch of games, as they continue to lose ground to the Cowboys in the NFC East. Back-to-back to losses to the Saints and Chiefs has pushed their backs against the wall.

Their schedule doesn’t get any lighter, as they’ll travel to Lambeau Field in Green Bay to face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Thus, the offense will need to put up points to aid the defense. Having Gibson healthy or at least capable will be a major boost.
