Watch: Aaron Rodgers carted off field in first game with Jets

The Aaron Rodgers era of New York Jets football has begun ... with the four-time MVP being carted off the field.

It all happened that fast.

This has to be a surreal sight for Jets fans. So much anticipation has come into this season. The Jets traded for Rodgers in hopes that he — and some key additions — would be the piece that would make them Super Bowl contenders.

Not even a drive into his first game with the team, this happened:

Peyton and Eli Manning reacted to the moment as fans.

"Holy cow," Peyton said as Rodgers got onto the cart. "I cannot believe this."

Rodgers was apparently injured on New York's first series. He dropped back to pass and was hauled down by Leonard Floyd for a sack. Rodgers got up and tried to walk the hit off, but had to sit down in the huddle before he ultimately made his way to the sideline.

The latest news is that Rodgers injured his ankle on the play and that he's questionable to return to the game
