The Green Bay Packers were clinging to a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s divisional-round game against the Los Angeles Rams, and superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers delivered the goods in the clutch.

Rodgers sailed a beautiful deep pass down the field to Allen Lazard, who ran the rest of the way for a 58-yard touchdown, putting the Packers up 32-18 after the successful extra point. It all but iced the game with seven minutes remaining on the clock:

Green Bay is headed to the NFC Championship Game for the second postseason in a row and will face the winner of Sunday’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.

What a play by Rodgers, who appeared to change the play at the line of scrimmage, or at the very least adjusted the protection or tweaked the route concept.

Credit Lazard, too, for getting open deep and shaking off a key drop earlier in the game to come through big when it mattered most.

The Rams boasted the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL in the regular season and largely shut down Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks in a 30-20 victory during Super Wild Card Weekend. At Lambeau Field on Saturday, Los Angeles had no answers for Rodgers and Co. early, and he wound up getting the last laugh as well.

Rodgers finished Saturday’s sensational showcase with 296 yards through the air on 23-of-36 passing with two touchdowns, and he added a one-yard scoring run.
