Watch: Broncos QB Russell Wilson looks like a Pro Bowler again with 60-yard TD

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is looking like a legitimate rebound candidate after an impressive first-half performance against the Commanders.

The 34-year-old flashed some of the playmaking ability that made him a nine-time Pro Bowler with a 60-yard TD to rookie wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. The throw gave Denver a 14-3 lead over Washington with 0:12 left in the first quarter.

Wilson would also connect with Mims Jr. early in the second quarter on a 54-yard completion, setting up another passing TD. He's completed 6-of-8 passes for 154 yards through two quarters.

Aside from a lost fumble, Wilson is showing signs of improvement after the worst year of his career. In 2022, the Super Bowl champion went 4-11, posting career lows in passing TDs (16) and passer rating (84.4).

Because of this, Wilson made changes this offseason.  He lost 15 pounds in order to regain mobility, making him a bigger threat in the play-action passing game.

To help support him, Denver fortified the WR room by drafting Mims Jr. in the second round. Per Broncos reporter Aric DiLalla, the rookie logged 166 all-purpose yards through two quarters, the most by a Broncos rookie since 2021.

Early signs are good, but if Denver wants to avoid a sixth consecutive season, Wilson and the rest of the offense will need to keep it up.
