Watch: Buccaneers' Tom Brady laughs about owning Cowboys during Week 1 win
If Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and wife Gisele Bündchen are experiencing marital troubles over his decision to return from a short-lived winter retirement and play one more season, as has been widely reported, the Dallas Cowboys didn't seem to notice throughout the campaign's "Sunday Night Football" opener.
Brady connected on 18-of-27 passes for 212 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the 19-3 victory over Dallas this past Sunday evening. As the Associated Press (h/t ESPN) pointed out, that result improved the 45-year-old to 7-0 against the Cowboys across his Hall-of-Fame career.
Unsurprisingly to those who know about the seven-time Super Bowl champion's personality and competitive drive, Brady wasn't surprised to learn about his improved record over "America's Team."
Cameras for NFL Films picked up a conversation between Brady and four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans on the sideline at AT&T Stadium.
"Are you 6-0 versus the Cowboys?" Evans asked. A smiling Brady simply responded: "Yeah."
"I knew you'd know that too," Evans replied.
"Well, just 'cause I looked at it this week," Brady explained. He then added: "WE looked at it this week!"
"We did," Evans admitted.
This isn't to say Brady was feeling 100 percent coming off his latest win.
"I woke up today going, 'Holy s---, there were a few hits,'" Brady told legendary broadcaster Jim Gray during Monday's edition of their "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast.
"And you look at your arm and you got bruises, you got cuts. And you go, 'OK, how much longer do I want to make this commitment?' And I obviously made the commitment for this year and everything’s going to be like always — continue to evaluate all these different aspects of playing."
As for Brady's personal life, it's been reported that he and Bündchen are "living separately" and that Brady "knows he needs to retire after this year 'if he wants to stay married.'"
The 1-0 Buccaneers play at the 1-0 New Orleans Saints this Sunday.
