Watch: Buffalo gets burned by another wide right field goal

The two worst words among Buffalo sports fandom are "wide right." They were haunted by them again on Sunday in their 27-24 divisional round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

With less than two minutes to play in the fourth quarter, kicker Tyler Bass had his potential game-tying 44-yard field goal hook to the right of the upright and drive another dagger into the minds of Bills fans.

Every Bills fan over the age of 40 probably had an immediate flashback to Scott Norwood hooking a potential game-winning field goal in Super Bowl XXV wide right against the New York Giants.

The Bills ended up losing that Super Bowl 20-19, and then lost each of the next three Super Bowls.

They are still searching for their first championship, and the 2023 team seemed like the one that had the best chance to actually deliver it.

Especially with the way they were playing down the stretch in taking a six-game winning streak into Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

They will have to wait at least one more year. While the missed kick will get most of the attention because it was the last meaningful play in the game, Buffalo's offense simply did not make enough big plays — and especially in the second half — and could not really find an answer to stop Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
