The Los Angeles Chargers broke out their bag of tricks against the Baltimore Ravens, pulling off a complex play to keep a drive alive on "Sunday Night Football."
Trailing the Ravens 13-3 late in the third quarter, the Chargers dug deep in the playbook to convert a third-and-17. First, quarterback Justin Herbert delivered a pass over the middle to wideout Keenan Allen, who tossed the football backward across the field to dashing running back Austin Ekeler, who scampered past the first-down marker.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh decided to challenge the play, but an official review upheld the ruling on the field.
Unfortunately, the Chargers' out-of-the-box play call didn't end up mattering. Despite moving the ball to the Baltimore 16-yard line, things ended with a thud.
On the 19th play of the drive, Ravens edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney recorded a strip-sack on Herbert, and the Chargers came away with nothing.
