Watch: Chiefs blow scoring opportunity in final seconds of first half

Not much went wrong for the Chiefs in the first half of their AFC Championship matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, but a costly mistake in the final seconds cost Kansas City a chance to add to its commanding lead.

The Chiefs quickly drove the length of the field in the final minute of the second quarter and were one yard from the end zone with nine seconds left. After an incomplete pass ticked the clock down to five seconds, Kansas City spurned a field-goal attempt for another shot at the end zone. But Tyreek Hill was tackled in bounds by the Bengals' Eli Apple, winding out the rest of the half.

Rather than extending their lead to 14 or 18, the Chiefs instead went to halftime up 21-10.

It was a rare mistake for a Chiefs offense that otherwise dominated the Cincinnati defense early. Patrick Mahomes threw touchdown passes to cap each of the Kansas City's first three drives.
