Watch: Damar Hamlin in huddle as Bills take field in Week 4
Damar Hamlin won the Comeback Player of the Year on Sunday.
Hamlin is active in Week 4 for the first time since going into cardiac arrest on "Monday Night Football" on Jan. 2, 2023 against the Bills.
Per ESPN's Jeff Darlington, Hamlin is expected to play a significant role on special teams. Per data from Pro Football Focus, Hamlin has played 217 special teams snaps in his two-year career, including 76 in 2022.
He played primarily on defense, but head coach Sean McDermott might be patient in rushing him back fully. Last season, he played 845 defensive snaps with 66 tackles. He was sneakily effective as a pass rusher with five total pressures in only 25 opportunities.
Buffalo (2-1) plays Miami (3-0) in the biggest game of the early afternoon window in the NFL in Week 4. After the Dolphins hung 70 points on Denver in Week 3, Hamlin could have plenty of opportunities to take the field on kick returns.
However, the Bills defense has been substantially better than the Broncos, ranking second in scoring defense (11.7 points per game), so the fireworks might be on hold in Week 4.
Except when it comes to Hamlin, that is. His return could be a huge emotional boost for the Bills. It might just spark them to victory.
Hamlin's comeback is already award-worthy. Depending on what happens on Sunday, it could get even better.
