Watch: Ex-MVP QB Cam Newton gets into viral brawl at youth football event

Just because he hasn’t taken an NFL snap in over two seasons doesn’t mean former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton doesn’t still know how to anticipate a blitz.

Newton’s elusiveness and quick reflexes came in handy over the weekend when the former NFL MVP was jumped by three unknown assailants at the WeBall Sports x DynastyU 7v7 tournament at B.E.S.T. Academy in Atlanta.

It’s not known what sparked the brawl, and as many as five people can be seen in a video that went viral on social media either shoving or throwing punches at Newton, who’s 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds. He seemingly held off each one without throwing a punch before police and security broke up the melee.

According to X, Newton’s C1N red team won the inaugural 7v7 15U championship. C1N is a foundation founded by Newton in 2011 to help “develop young athletes’ skills in football by providing opportunities to compete at the highest level through 7v7 tournaments and other events,” per the organization’s website.

The 34-year-old hasn’t played since the 2021 season when he started five games and played in three others for the Panthers. He went 0-5 in those starts and finished the season with 684 yards passing, 230 yards rushing, nine total touchdowns and five interceptions.
