Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith readies to throw against the Detroit Lions Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

Watch: Geno Smith has hilarious dispute with game official

Geno Smith had his second straight viral moment of the 2023 season.

During the fourth quarter of the Seattle Seahawks' Week 2 win over the Detroit Lions, the quarterback went over to referee Alex Kemp to dispute a flag for intentional grounding as the ref was announcing the call.

As Smith pleaded his case, Kemp cut him off and told Smith "I'm talking to America here, excuse me."

The quip got a laugh from Fox commentators Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen. Olsen said the ref's comment was "the best line I've ever heard out of an official."

Smith responded to the call by tossing a three-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett, which helped secure the Seahawks a 37-31 overtime win.

This isn't the first time this season that Smith has had an entertaining interaction during a game. During Seattle's Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams Smith went viral for his reaction to Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald rushing him.

Smith continues to be a reliable part of Seattle's offense this season and has been just as reliable for a funny moment on a hot mic in 2023.
