Watch: Giants nearly come back against Rams after crazy 94-yard punt return TD

Trailing the Los Angeles Rams 26-19 with less than 3:30 left in the fourth quarter, the New York Giants needed a spark.

Enter 27-year-old journeyman receiver Gunner Olszewski.

As Ethan Evans punted the ball away on a fourth-and-17 from his own 36, Olszewski fielded the ball from his own six-yard line and took off up-field. He ran into two Rams defenders near the 22, but spun out of a would-be tackle and sprinted to the end zone after the rest of the Rams defensed presumed he was down.

Olszewski’s touchdown pulled the Rams to within 26-25 with 3:27 left in the fourth quarter. New York's two-point conversion failed, however, after Tyrod Taylor's pass to Saquon Barkley fell incomplete.

Olszewski had four punt returns for 107 yards and the score at time of publication. It was just the third career touchdown for Olszewski, a Bemidji State alum, and it was only his second return touchdown (his other came in 2020 with the New England Patriots).

After beginning the season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Olszewski signed with the Giants practice squad on Oct. 23. He was promoted to the active roster just days later, and he’s appeared in three games with the Giants since then.
