Watch: Giants QB Tyrod Taylor throws 80-yard TD to WR Darius Slayton
Surprisingly, the New York Giants erratic offense is generating some big plays against the Los Angeles Rams.
With 4:39 remaining in the third quarter, Giants backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw an 80-yard TD to wide receiver Darius Slayton, cutting the lead to 20-16. New York missed the extra-point attempt.
Taylor, 34, replaced undrafted rookie QB Tommy DeVito in a Week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles (11-4) and is making his fourth start. He's completed 19-of-24 passes for 234 yards and one interception through three quarters.
New York (5-10) has already been eliminated from playoff contention and has QB questions it must answer this offseason. Starter Daniel Jones — who posted a career-low 38 QBR in six games — suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 9. Per Tankathon, they're in line for the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, within range of selecting a potential replacement.
Regardless, the Giants should consider re-signing a serviceable backup like Taylor — who's in the final year of a two-year $11M contract.
