The New York Giants are riding high following a complete performance from start to finish putting themselves in the playoffs.

It was a dominant day by the Giants’ defense, featuring a total of 252 yards allowed, two sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, and 10 points given up.

On the Giants’ defensive score Sunday, a play in which safety Landon Collins took the ball away, another Giants safety called it before it happened.

Everything is going right for the Giants:

In the huddle pre-snap, Tony Jefferson said to defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, “Get ready to block, gonna get a pick. Gonna get a pick right now. Block.” Sure enough, Collins picked off a pass right in front of the Giants’ sideline and ran it into the end zone. Excitement ensued.

This mic’d up piece simply encapsulates just how well things are going for the Giants right now.

In year one of the Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll era, the Giants football team has surpassed even the loftiest of expectations. They clinched a playoff berth at home in an exciting fashion with still a week left to play in the regular season.

The leadership and experience from players brought in this year, like Collins, an eight-year veteran who knows the Giants very well, and a 10-year veteran in Jefferson, have played a part in this immediate success. The Giants will continue to need it come playoff time.
