Watch: Ian Rapoport reports on Aaron Rodgers' Achilles surgery in graphic detail

Ian Rapoport is one of the best NFL reporters in the world, but did you know that he doubles as a doctor on the side? Or perhaps that's whenever he stays at a Holiday Inn.

Either way, the veteran NFL reporter made an appearance on NFL Network's, "The Insiders" on Thursday and he gave one of the more unique injury updates you're likely to see.

The subject? None other than New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Achilles he tore just four plays into his first season.

Rodgers recently had surgery to fix the Achilles tear, and Rapoport broke down the process — known as SpeedBridge surgery — in a segment including visual props and an animated guide.

If you didn't know what you were watching at the moment, there's a chance you may have thought you stumbled across a rerun of "ER" where Rapoport was doing his best George Clooney impression. You may have also mistaken the segment for an anatomy lesson from your local community college.

It was interesting, sure, but it was also graphic enough that Rapoport's co-hosts had no idea what to say when the "presentation" was done.

More interesting than the surgery Rodgers underwent will be his status for 2024 and beyond. He was already flirting with retirement before the Packers traded him to the Jets, and even the most advanced surgery procedures in the world may not increase the chances of a 40-year-old being able to come back from a torn Achilles to play high-level NFL football after an already nearly 20-year career.
