Watch: Incredible Kyler Murray scramble helps set up Cardinals win
The Arizona Cardinals welcomed starting quarterback Kyler Murray on Sunday and he wasted no time in showing what kind of impact player he can still be.
Nowhere was that more obvious than on the Cardinals' final drive when, facing a third-and-10, Murray did this to help set up a game-winning field goal to lift his team to a 25-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Murray's career has been plagued by inconsistency, but when he is at his best he can be a game-changing player that is capable of highlight reel plays like that.
He did not have a great day passing the football, completing 19-of-32 passes for 249 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception. But some rust had to be expected given that he had not played in a real NFL game since tearing his ACL late in the 2022 season. The fact he was still out there and able to make plays was huge for the Cardinals offense.
Along with that scramble, Murray also had 33 yards rushing and a touchdown in the win.
The Cardinals have a ton of money invested in Murray, but also have a coaching staff that did not draft him or sign him to that contract. The Cardinals are also in a position where they will have an opportunity to potentially land a quarterback at the top of the 2024 NFL Draft, not only with their own pick, but also Houston's first-round pick.
It would be very helpful to everybody if Murray could show over these next few weeks that he can still be a franchise quarterback. It would not only give the Cardinals an answer at quarterback, it would also create all sort of possibilities for them in the draft if they can focus elsewhere.
