New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams earned the first interception of his career thanks to a surprising mistake by the Philadelphia Eagles.
With 10:42 left in the second quarter, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pass to tight end Dallas Goedert. However, he bobbled the ball, which landed in Williams' hands.
New York failed to capitalize off the interception, scoring no points on the ensuing drive. Despite that, it's a notable play because defensive linemen rarely get an interception, given the nature of the position.
The big play shows the Jets defense can step up against the Eagles (5-0). The Philadelphia offense is fifth in the NFL in points scored (28.2). Conversely, New York is 24th in points scored (18.6), so it must force turnovers to stay in the game.
Also, the Jets have never beaten the Eagles. They're 0-12 against them, per StatMuse. They'll need more big plays to upset a Philadelphia team that looks like it could make the Super Bowl for a second consecutive season.
