Watch: Justin Herbert scores first NFL touchdown in Chargers debut

Tyrod Taylor injured his chest during pregame warmups on Sunday and is questionable to enter the Chargers' contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor's injury paved way for rookie quarterback Justin Herbert to get his first start in the NFL, and he didn't disappoint in the first quarter.

Herbert led the Chargers down the field on an eight-play drive and scored his first NFL touchdown in his league debut.

Herbert was selected by the Chargers sixth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. He wasn't expected to start this early on in the season, but it appears L.A. head coach Anthony Lynn has full confidence in the young quarterback.

In his final season with Oregon, Herbert completed 66.8 percent of his passes for 3,471 yards and 32 touchdowns against six interceptions. He added 50 yards and four touchdowns rushing.

Herbert was the third quarterback selected in the first round of the draft, behind Cincinnati Bengals budding star Joe Burrow and Miami Dolphins standout Tua Tagovailoa.
