Watch: NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano defends Browns' Brownie the Elf midfield logo

The Cleveland Browns opened the 2022 NFL season with a thrilling 26-24 victory at the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday thanks to a game-winning 58-yard field goal that probably shouldn't have happened.

Coming off that result, the Browns revealed they will be using their "Brownie The Elf" mascot as a midfield logo for home games at FirstEnergy Stadium starting with the Week 2 matchup against the 0-1 New York Jets this coming Sunday. Some clearly not intimidated by the logo criticized this decision, but NFL Network personality and longtime Browns fan Andrew Siciliano went to bat for Brownie during a segment that aired on Wednesday.

"We don't care if you don't like Brownie the Elf at midfield," Siciliano passionately explained. "We like it. If you don't, that's your problem!

"Alright? It was a fan poll. A fan poll. They voted. They wanted Brownie the Elf. We respect your right to be wrong. Brownie the Elf at midfield is awesome."

This was hardly the first time that Siciliano has openly discussed his love for the Browns.

Anthony Poisal of the Browns' website notes that Brownie the Elf is a logo initially used by the franchise during its first season in 1946. According to Jake Trotter of ESPN, fans voted for the chosen depiction of Brownie at midfield over an alternative version of the logo and also a pair of team helmet designs.

"We're super excited about the new midfield logo," Browns executive vice president and partner JW Johnson said. "We really wanted to engage our fans in the process, and they are — as I've said multiple times — undefeated. They're the best in the league, best in the NFL and, candidly, some of the best in sports. We really wanted to get their involvement and hear what they have to say. We were able to pull off the new logo with the old school Brownie logo."
