Watch: Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson scores 64-yard TD

Surprisingly, the inept New England Patriots offense is erupting against the Washington Commanders.

With 6:06 left in the second quarter, New England running back Rhamondre Stevenson burst through the line of scrimmage and scored a 64-yard TD, giving the Patriots a 14-10 lead.

The Patriots offense has sputtered throughout the season due to its inability to run the ball. Entering Week 9, New England is 28th in the NFL in rushing yards per game (84.4). Stevenson, a third-year RB out of Oklahoma, is averaging a career-low 3.2 yards per carry.

Last season, however, he rushed for 1,040 yards in 17 games. The big play might signal he's starting to get back in the groove, which would be great for the Patriots.

New England is 2-6 and only has a two percent chance to make the playoffs, per The New York Times Simulator. It will probably rebuild after the season and needs dynamic playmakers.
