Watch: Peyton Manning, Eli Manning torch Jets after loss to Ravens

The opening "Monday Night Football" game of the 2022 NFL regular season featured an emotional matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos that the Seahawks won at home 17-16.

It also gifted fans watching from their couches the latest edition of the popular "ManningCast" alternate broadcast that involves former NFL quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Eli Manning commenting on the action and interviewing special guests.

The two didn't wait long to take some shots at the New York Jets following Gang Green's 24-9 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens that included Jets backup signal-caller Joe Flacco completing 37-of-59 passes for 307 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Flacco is atop the depth chart in place of the injured Zach Wilson.

"Well, the Jets threw it 59 times and that worked out well for them. They looked good," Peyton Manning sarcastically said during the first quarter of Monday's contest, as noted by Max Weisman of the New York Post. "You can’t throw it 59 times in the opener," the current Hall of Famer continued. "You can’t throw it 59 times in the opener, you can’t do it."

Eli Manning seemed to agree.

"With your backup quarterback? It’s illegal?" the former New York Giants star and two-time Super Bowl champion said.

"Guaranteed you’re not going to win," Peyton Manning added.

The Manning brothers made their comments hours after Jets head coach Robert Saleh declared on multiple occasions he was "taking receipts" on all of those criticizing his team after the Week 1 debacle at MetLife Stadium. Saleh now has two big names to add to his growing list as he prepares for this coming Sunday's game at the 1-0 Cleveland Browns.
