The Washington Commanders opted to play the majority of its offensive starters for the entire first half of Monday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, one of the worst things may have happened with its star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin had three catches for 39 yards. On his third catch, he got tackled from behind by Ravens linebacker Kristian Welch. McLaurin hobbled after getting up.

He headed to the sideline before throwing his cleat in frustration. As the Commanders’ offense continued the drive, McLaurin later walked to the locker room with 30 seconds remaining in the first half.

At halftime, the Commanders updated that McLaurin was diagnosed with a toe injury, and the wideout would not return to the game.

X-rays on the injured toe were negative, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.

Terry McLaurin is a vital part of the Commanders’ success. He is one of the team leaders. But more importantly, he may be Washington’s best offensive player.

After having 919 receiving yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2019, McLaurin has followed up with three consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving and a combined 14 touchdowns. That’s despite catching passes from ten different quarterbacks.
