Watch: Texans HC's news conference interrupted by Emergency Alert System test

It was bound to happen.

With millions of people across the country waiting in anticipation of Wednesday's National Wireless Emergency Alert System test, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans's news conference ended up caught in the middle of the event.

As noted by Brooks Kubena of Houston Chronicle, this wasn't the first time a Texans head coach was interrupted by an alarm.

During Lovie Smith's introductory news conference in February 2022, a fire alarm went off while general manager Nick Caserio was speaking. Fortunately, there was no fire.

Houston finished with the worst record in the AFC at 3-13-1, and Smith was fired in January.

Texans fans hope that Wednesday's interruption isn't indicative of what has been a solid 2-2 start to the campaign. Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is looking like a franchise signal-caller thus far, and the team has back-to-back wins against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ryans, Stroud and company will visit the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5 at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
