Watch: What the Cincinnati Bengals should do with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft

[Editor's note: The following is a transcript of the video above.]

I am Matt Williamson with Yardbarker to discuss what Bengals should do with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft.

There's some talk that they should maybe field offers, get a godfather-like offer to move down. That's absolutely the wrong choice.

I think you take Joe Burrow, and you say, "Thank you for the gift." And here's what I would do in addition to that: I would franchise AJ Green, keep him around for another year, and you also get last year's first-round pick, Jonah Williams, back to play left tackle. He's a great prospect out of Alabama.

The Bengals still would have enough cap space, and I would use a portion of that to sign at least one more notable interior offensive lineman.

And the key here is when you bring in a young quarterback, a highly touted, highly drafted guy to the organization, you need to create a great nest, a nice soft landing spot, and that just isn't that hard to build for Cincinnati with the scheme and the moves that they made already. With guys like Joe Mixon in place and Tyler Boyd, it's a pretty nice nest and landing spot for Burrow.

Does that mean the Bengals will soon become contenders? No, probably not.

The defense still needs a lot of work, and you know, the defense should not be ignored with their second and later picks as well and also in free agency. They could add things as well, but the defense probably would be next year's project.

This year's offseason should all be about creating a wonderful, soft nest for Burrow to land, and he has some great traits: I mean, accuracy, pocket presence, his overall command.

He brings a lot of much-needed confidence and swagger and a history of winning to this team that it really needs.

You can't overpay for a franchise quarterback, so just don't screw it up, Cincinnati. Accept the gift that was given to you.

Select Burrow, your new franchise quarterback.
