What The Lions Proved With Their First Win In 2021

The exorcism of the spell had to go through one final play.

It was a touchdown or nothing for the much-maligned Jared Goff.

But he found Amon-Ra St. Brown for the winning touchdown.

After the victory, it looked like the Lions won a championship.

However, they won their community back with everything they did.

Start Of A Win Streak?

Winning in the NFL is tough, and the first one is the hardest.

There is no doubt that head coach Dan Campbell felt relief after defeating the Minnesota Vikings, 29-27.

He and the players had mutual respect and care for one another.

Sadly, that chemistry did not translate to victories.

There were games when they lost by a last-second field goal and instances wherein the game was over by the first half.

Now that they’ve scratched the win column, the opportunity to get another victory is wide open.

Their upcoming schedule looks difficult because they will face teams like the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.

But their renewed confidence may bring out a different Lions team in the coming weeks.

Their triumph over Minnesota registers as one win in the record books.

Yet given the struggles they’ve had over the last two seasons, it’s a monumental triumph that rivals perhaps a playoff victory.

Time To Give Campbell Another Chance

Campbell might have been one and done if the Lions ended the 2021 NFL season with a 0-16-1 record.

As much as he is entertaining and charismatic, he could not lead the team to victory.

Their offense stalled on most drives while their defense couldn’t stop anyone.

The coach ultimately absorbs the failures that the team demonstrates on the field.

That’s why the call of his firing went louder with each passing defeat.

But a victory over an average team somehow restores optimism that he’s the right person for the role.

Claiming that the first win was a long time coming, and it finally came.

Campbell proved that despite having a weak receiving corps and some starters on injured reserve, he could motivate his team to win.

Sometimes, a roster need not have the best players at every position.
