SANTA CLARA -- Who does Brock Purdy think he is?

Sure, he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he just might win the MVP this season, and he carries himself like he's 35 and all his teammates seem to love him. But when he has his weekly press conference, he wears a backwards hat, which is deeply troubling according to Colin Cowherd, a known expert on hats and quarterbacks.

"There is one thing that does make me pause about San Francisco," Cowherd said last week before the destroyed the Eagles 42-19. "I want my quarterbacks to be adults, I don't want them to be frat boys. Jalen Hurts is the best podium quarterback in the league. Hat on forward, professional, almost manicured, CEO-like, a real grownup.

"Brock Purdy -- he's got a hat on backwards. He's not a franchise quarterback. Come on, if that guy came to move your couch, you'd be like, 'Are you a professional?' I'm telling you, it really bothers me. Maybe I'm overstating it. He's probably a nice kid. His dad needs to call him and say, 'Turn that thing around.' I'm not saying you can't wear it backwards in the garage or playing frisbee -- franchise quarterback, Wednesday podium, Jalen Hurts is how you want to look. CEO. Respectful of the owner of the organization."

Unfortunately for the Eagles, Hurts was awful during the game against the 49ers. But he wears his hat correctly, and that's what matters.

Purdy just doesn't get it. Sure, he might win the MVP and the Super Bowl this season, but until he turns his hat forward, he'll never be half the quarterback Hurts is.

So on Thursday, I confronted Purdy at the podium about his incredibly unprofessional look.

"Do you think you're representing the organization well right now, standing up there at the podium wearing a backwards hat?" I asked.

“Man, I guess that's who I am and I think so," Purdy said with a smirk.

"Have you heard what the media is saying about that?" a reporter asked.

"Some guys have told me in the locker room and stuff," Purdy said. "but I don't buy into all that kind of stuff. I'm just trying to play quarterback and win games."

See, that's Purdy's problem there. His priorities are all messed up. Instead of focusing on playing quarterback and winning games, he should focus purely on his appearance, like Jimmy Garoppolo does.

Now, HE'S a franchise quarterback.
