Why Cowboys should trade for Steelers WR Chase Claypool

The Cowboys are 4-2, but their offense is stagnant, averaging 300.8 yards per game,  well below the league average. One player who could jumpstart Dallas is Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, multiple teams have shown interest in Claypool. Some thought he was available before the season.

Claypool has flashed talent, catching 62 and 59 passes the past two seasons. He has 23 receptions on 36 targets this season. But the Steelers have an established No.1 target in Diontae Johnson, and rookie George Pickens could be a future star.

Claypool, who is 6-foot-4 and 238 pounds, could be a strong complement to CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup. With a big frame, he can make difficult catches in tighter coverage.

Lamb and Gallup are good, but they're gangly wideouts who struggle to beat double teams. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones criticized Lamb earlier this season, saying: "You've got to catch balls covered."

Claypool would take this pressure off Lamb, opening up the offense and helping restart a sluggish attack that ranked No. 1 last season. QB Dak Prescott's imminent return from a right thumb injury should aid the offense, too.
