Why Davante Adams' recent comments are concerning for the Raiders

Davante Adams has indicated he's disgruntled with the Las Vegas Raiders.

In an interview with The Ringer's Mirin Fader, the star wideout hinted he disliked the team's direction this offseason and didn't believe it made Las Vegas a Super Bowl contender.

"We (Adams and the front office) don't see eye-to-eye on what's best for us right now," Adams told Fader.

Adams might not be ecstatic about playing with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders signed Garoppolo to a three-year, $72.8M deal after they released longtime starter Derek Carr, a college teammate and good friend of Adams.

Adams posted a puzzling message on his Instagram story after the Raiders agreed to sign Jimmy G and didn't rave about playing with him since he believes the QB is limited.

"If we play a certain brand of ball, I can get [Garoppolo] to conform to whatever," Adams told Fader. "But if we use him a certain type of way, then it's going to make it tough for us to maximize who we should be this year."

Adams should produce, regardless. In his first season without former Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, he led the league in receiving TDs (14) and made his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl.

Adams is in a race with time, though. He turned 30 years old last season, so his prime will eventually dwindle.

Adams has never played in a Super Bowl in nine seasons. He may be growing impatient since he wants to win a championship during the pinnacle of his career.

The Garoppolo signing didn't improve the Raiders Super Bowl odds. Per OddsChecker, they have the 11th-worst championship odds.
The Raiders need Garoppolo to exceed expectations, otherwise Adams' doubts will keep growing.
