Why Ravens could be perfect fit for two-time NFL rushing leader

The Ravens have had to battle the injury bug over the past couple of seasons. The position group that took the biggest hit in 2022 was the running backs, and there's a veteran still available that could provide some much-needed insurance.

Ezekiel Elliott, who was released by the Cowboys last month, may be a perfect fit in Baltimore's rushing attack.

Elliot, who is 27, has 8,262 yards and 68 touchdowns on the ground in his career and led the league in rushing yards twice (2016, 2018). However, the most important stat is that he has played in at least 15 games in five straight seasons.

That should certainly catch the attention of the Ravens as running backs J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards each played in less than 10 games last season.

Elliott shouldn't cost too much either, now over a month removed since the start of free agency. Cost-effective additions are a necessity for Baltimore as the team is still trying to figure out whether its future includes QB Lamar Jackson.

The Ravens may still be high on Dobbins, their 2020 second-round pick. Even if Dobbins has the comeback season both sides are hoping for, Elliott could still create quite the duo with him in 2023.
