Why Steelers could make big splash in free agency

The Steelers aren't in the best position to make many moves in free agency. However, it wouldn't be surprising if Pittsburgh found a way to land at least one of the league's top free agents.

The reason is because general manager Omar Khan is about to take on his first free agency since taking over for Kevin Colbert and he will surely want to put his own touch on the team.

The Steelers are in a difficult situation with just $908,000 in cap space. However, with a few cuts and contract reconstructions, Kahn should find enough money to make a big move.

We know Khan isn't afraid of making a splash after he traded WR Chase Claypool to the Bears midseason for pick No. 32 in the 2023 NFL Draft.

One player to keep an eye on is LB Tremaine Edmunds. Edmunds is the younger brother of Steelers' safety Terrell Edmunds and could help solidify a position of need for the foreseeable future.

The 24-year-old ranks as NFL.com's No. 20 free agent after posting five straight 100+ tackle seasons with the Bills.

Whether or not Edmunds is Pittsburgh's desired splash play, don't be surprised if you see another big name heading to the Steel City next week as Khan builds his new team.
