Why Super Bowl champion believes Bills could be 'vulnerable' in 2023

The Buffalo Bills want to get over the hump and win their first Super Bowl, but a fortified AFC East could block their path.

Emmanuel Sanders, a Super Bowl champion and former Pro Bowl wide receiver, believes Buffalo is the most vulnerable division champion since the Jets and Dolphins made an offseason splash.

"It's not about the Bills taking a step back this offseason — it's about everyone taking a step forward," wrote Sanders."The Jets scored an infusion of talent, including four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, while the Dolphins made some big additions of their own, including trading for Jalen Ramsey."

Although the Bills won their third consecutive AFC East title, Miami and New York beat them last season. Since both teams strengthened their rosters, either could upset Buffalo and win the division.

Additionally, they were already on an upward trajectory. The Dolphins made the playoffs last season, and Jets WR Garrett Wilson looked like a future Pro Bowler after winning 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Bills missed the AFC championship for a second consecutive year after a 27-10 loss against the Bengals in the divisional round, raising questions about their championship window.

However, blockbuster offseason additions fail sometimes, and they haven't dramatically shifted AFC East odds. Per OddsChecker, the Bills are favored to win the division.

Since 2020, Buffalo has won the second most regular-season games (37) behind the Kansas City Chiefs, establishing a robust foundation that's hard to crack.

The division presents a greater challenge for Buffalo, but the Bills can handle it and possibly win their fourth straight AFC East crown.
