Why the Browns had a sneaky good draft

The Browns didn't make their first selection in the 2023 NFL Draft until pick No. 74 in the third round. Some may overlook Cleveland's draft class because of their lack of high draft capital, but don't.

"The Browns didn't pick until No. 74 and still landed five players from my top-100. Love the value of their draft haul," NFL draft analyst Dan Brugler tweeted.

Brugler's right. Cleveland added a ton of talent even without a first or second-round pick.

In the third round, the Browns added WR Cedric Tillman, who Pro Football Focus names as the "most physical receiver in the draft class," to their new-look receiver room as well as DT Siaki Ika to bolster their defensive line.

Cleveland then received "elite" draft grades for two of its day three selections.

The Browns added the massive 6-foot-8, 374-pound offensive tackle Dawand Jones in the fourth round. He slid due to some medical concerns but he certainly has upside as he ranks as PFF's No. 31 overall prospect and sixth-best offensive tackle.

Cleveland's second "elite" grade was for center Luke Wypler, who ranks as PFF's No. 54 overall prospect and second-best center. Wypler allowed just one sack in his 965 career pass blocking snaps.

On paper, the Browns look ready to make a run to the Super Bowl. Now they must put it together on the field.
