Will Jets' record stop Aaron Rodgers from playing again this season?

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh revealed last week that injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play again this season as long as Rodgers wants to return from the torn Achilles he suffered on Sept. 11 by Week 18.

Rodgers confirmed during a Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" that his plans won't be derailed by the fact the Jets are 4-6 heading into Friday's home game against the 7-3 Miami Dolphins.

"I mean, I find those two are mutually exclusive," Rodgers said about the situation, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "You know, my speed at which I’m doing the rehab has been kind of the same from the beginning. It’s 'push it as hard as we can, every single day.' And, you know, as long as we’re not stretching the Achilles, we feel like we’re in a good place."

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported this past Sunday that Rodgers "is hopeful to return to practice" around his 40th birthday which he'll celebrate on Dec. 2. It's believed the future Hall of Famer wants to play in New York's home game against the Washington Commanders on Christmas Eve assuming the Jets haven't been eliminated from postseason contention by then.

The Jets offense consistently failed to impress with Zach Wilson serving as Rodgers' replacement before Saleh confirmed Monday he's starting backup Tim Boyle against Miami. Boyle, 29, has attempted a total of 120 regular-season passes since the beginning of the 2019 campaign.

"The season is definitely not over," Rodgers insisted on Tuesday. "It’s not dead. There’s a lot left to play for. I’m excited about where I’m at in my rehab. And things are progressing as quickly as I thought they would, once I’ve been able to jog on a treadmill, and excited about getting back to the team and seeing where I’m at."

As of Tuesday afternoon, oddschecker listed the Jets as 10-point underdogs against the Dolphins. Gang Green ended Week 11 sitting at 14th in the conference standings.
