Will Joe Burrow reset QB market or emulate Tom Brady?

The Chargers signed QB Justin Herbert to a five-year, $262.5 million contract extension on Tuesday, which leaves just one quarterback left to get paid this offseason: Joe Burrow.

Herbert is now the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history just a couple months removed from Ravens QB Lamar Jackson owning the record with his $260 million deal. However, Herbert will unlikely hold the record for very long either - or will he?

Burrow and Cincinnati have reportedly been working on a contract extension that many believe will be a record-setting payday. However, that might not be the case.

The 26-year-old has since commented on his desire to keep his weapons which include wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, who will soon need to be paid as well.

"Our front office has done a great job of that the past couple years of putting us in the best position to succeed the way that we have," Burrow said. "So we'll see where it goes but I'm confident that we'll be able to keep everybody."

For that to happen, Burrow may not be able to reset the quarterback market but instead take after the best to ever do it: Tom Brady.

Brady repeatedly took pay cuts throughout his career in order to have enough talent around him for his team to be competitive. It certainly worked out as he went onto win seven Super Bowls.

If Burrow can emulate Brady, he may be able to challenge Brady's G.O.A.T. status one day. But it must start now as Burrow already has a lot of catching up to do.
