Arguably the biggest storyline leading up to the draft surrounds Georgia Bulldogs star defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Once viewed as a lock to go inside the top five picks, some are now projecting him to fall to the latter half of the first round or out of the first round altogether.

It’s not a foregone conclusion; many draft pundits still have Carter going within the top six picks, but the possibility of the Georgia product falling into the lap of the Falcons at pick eight is looking more and more like something that could happen, which would have been a pipe dream two months ago.

With that being said, even if Jalen Carter does fall to Atlanta, Josh Kendall recently reported that fans need to get used to the idea of the team passing on him. That would be quite the decision, considering he’s a Georgia product, one of the most talented prospects in the draft, and fills a massive need for the team. If the Falcons pass on him and he turns into a star elsewhere, that might be the beginning of the end for this regime.

On the latest episode of SportsTalkATL, we discuss the possibility of Jalen Carter falling to the Falcons and if the team would be foolish to pass on such a talent.
