The College Football Hall of Fame just announced their 2023 class. That class includes many household names like Reggie Bush and Tim Tebow. The 2023 class also includes a former Wisconsin Badgers legend, Troy Vincent.

Wisconsin Badgers Legend Troy Vincent Inducted

Troy Vincent had an amazing career at Wisconsin. Between 1989-1991, he scored a punt return touchdown in each year. He added a bunch of punt and kick return yards that put the Badgers in great field position. In his senior season, he had two interceptions and took one back for a touchdown. He was no scrub at CB either. He had 24 pass breakups and 21 passes defended in his career. Vincent was an electric player and it is great to see him honored.

A Great Person

What makes the recognition of Troy Vincent even better is it couldn’t happen to a better guy. While his pro career was full of many accolades, he also received many humanitarian awards in the NFL. He is the only player in NFL history to ever receive the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, the NFL Players Association Byron Whizzer White Award, and the Sporting News Good Guy Award. Not only did he produce on the field, but he also impacted the community in a positive way.

Joins More Legends

Vincent is the fifth Wisconsin Badgers legend to be inducted since 2010 and the 12th overall. He joins the following people in the College Football Hall of Fame since 2010.

  • Barry Alvarez (Coach) – 2010
  • Ron Dayne – 2013
  • Tim Krumrie – 2016
  • Joe Thomas – 2019

This is a good group to be a part of. Wisconsin football saw a lot of success in the 1980s and 1990s and we are seeing those players being recognized.

Wisconsin Badgers legend Troy Vincent will live on in the College Football Hall of Fame. With how much talent is flooding into Madison now, expect a lot more players to be enshrined in the coming years.
